Trusts

A Trust, much like a Will, allows for the distribution of your assets upon your death.  However, unlike a Will, if your assets are titled property, a Trust allows you to avoid the expenses associated with Probate.  Probate is the process by which your assets are distributed and your liabilities satisfied by the Court upon your death.  This can be a significant advantage as Probate can become quite costly.

A Trust can also allow for you to manage your assets while living.  A Trust can also appoint an individual to handle your affairs in the event of your incapacitation.  As such, it is a valuable tool and the viability of setting up your own trust should be discussed with a Florida Keys Probate Attorney.

The Florida Keys attorneys at Robertson & Hunter can discuss with you the advantages and disadvantages of a Trust versus a Will.
